About the Owners of GulfWind Paddle & Surf

Almost ten years ago, Steve Ortner, along with his wife Katrina and son Jonathan, decide to leave the stressful world of metro Atlanta in search of more relaxed settings. This search lead them to South Walton County, and they have never looked back. Once moved in, the family jumped, feet first, right into the community. Jonathan became South Walton County’s record holding quarterback, and the family opened GulfWind Paddle and Surf.

Fast forward a few years later to today, and GulfWind has become the hottest go to shop for paddle boards, Yeti coolers, E-bikes, GoPro Cameras, Oakley Sunglasses, and anything else surf or paddle board related….and somethings that are not. They even have apparel, and ukuleles.

When you stop by GulfWind Paddle & Surf, you immediately recognize the unique vibe that combines that old-Florida, laid-back feel with top of the line brands and hometown service.  Not only is it a great place to shop for the best the paddle and surf industry offers, it’s a really cool place to hang out.  Ace, the scruffy pup, will always meet you with a wag of his tail as soon as you walk in, and Steve keeps plenty of beer on tap for his customers…and himself. It’s not just a surf shop, it’s a cool place for paddle boarders and friends to hang out, share a few stories, and maybe even pick a few tunes.
